- Higher education abroad
Indian Muslims have the lowest Gross enrollment ratio – GRE (around 16.6 percent against the national average of 26.3 percent), Internal disparities like Income disparity, gender bias, and medium of education prevent Muslim youth from attaining higher education. Most Muslim students are highly dependent on government institutions as they lack financial resources.
There is a considerable surge in female literacy among Muslim women since the beginning of the eighties (last century). The dawn of the 21st century has witnessed mass enrollment of Muslim girls both at the primary and higher education level. Certain religious entities act as stumbling blocks in the way of higher education for Muslims particularly girls.
One of the chief reasons for Muslims not making it to the universities is the lack of facilities like guidance and counseling, information about scholarships, and affordable institutions of higher education in India and abroad.
If every local mosque has a make-shift counseling center during summer vacation, hundreds and thousands of Muslim boys and girls will get exposure to higher education opportunities in India and abroad, they will also know about the futuristic courses in¸ Information and communication technologies, AI, VR AVR, etc.
The Muslim community is mostly unaware that there are many institutions of higher education abroad, that offer professional education degrees in medicine, accounting, management, and health care. Students who pursue higher education abroad are also entitled to permanent residency, once they get PR they are eligible for a subsidized fee and work permit.

2. Internationally recognized courses
Students looking forward to studying or working abroad or wishing to settle abroad should pass the examinations like GRE, IELTS, TOEFL, Pearson, etc. Students need professional trainers and institutions to ace these exams, further, the training and examination fee is beyond the scope of the majority of Muslim students, including highly intelligent ones. If some organizations come forward to provide these types of training and trainers hundreds and thousands of aspiring Muslims would get benefitted.
A chartered accountant degree in India is considered highly rewarding and respected, but not even a handful of Muslims could ace the final exam, on the other hand, the Association of chartered certified Accountants (ACCA) an international degree is comparatively easier and has international recognition including India, very few students and parents know about this.
3. Opportunities for Skilled workforce in Germany and Canada
Germany is a technology giant, it’s famous for Engineering, technology, automotive, and precision manufacturing. Every year Germany needs thousands of skilled and semi-skilled workers in the field of plumbing, construction, electrical works, welding, nursing, and health care. The salaries are very good compared to other countries. The only requirement is learning the German language. Similarly, Canada too needs a lot of skilled and semi-skilled workers every year, the only requirement is passing the IELTS exams. An academy of French and German languages would be a great help to Muslim students.
4. Skills development
25 percent of the Google workforce comprises non-graduates, further many companies prefer proficiency in skills to high-grade degrees. Across the world and in India there is a huge shortage of skilled workers, it’s worth establishing more skill development centers than investing in building massive college campuses. Enough is enough we have a huge mass of unemployed graduates in India, ready to do any menial job.
a. A Wrong notion – need to be addressed
Well-to-do Muslims are ready to donate huge amounts of money to Mosques and Madrasas but not to the cause of education, rich Muslim brothers and sisters should also donate a fraction of their zakat amount for education and skills development, if 0.5 percent of the zakat amount is invested in education and skills development, millions of Poor Muslim youth and their families will be benefited and their socio-economic status could be raised many folds
b. How to implement a skill development program in a cost-effective way?
The Muslim community needs more skill development centers than madrasas and colleges. Academic institutions managed by Muslim bodies should lend their premised weekly or in the evenings for training the Muslim youth in paramedical sciences, plumbing, tailoring, electrical work, welding, and office automation the community will be immensely benefited.
Bharat Sevak Samaj (A Central government organization) conducts exams for these skills and issues certificates, getting approval and affiliation is not a big task.
5. Chamber of commerce
The Muslims of India don’t have a chamber of commerce worth its name, a chamber of comers is highly essential to cater to the common interest of Muslim traders.
Muslim businessmen face a host of local, national, and international issues, and only an effective chamber of commerce could address their issues. There is an immediate need to establish a local, regional, national and international chamber of commerce for Muslim businessmen. Muslim businessmen suffer from several setbacks in their businesses due to a lack of information inputs within and outside India, say double taxation, GST, international sanctions, and the laws governing various countries and economic blocks, like SAARC, ASEAN, OPEC, BRICK, G-20, EU, etc.
Business, be it small or big is interlinked with the micro and macroeconomics of India, All businessmen need to be periodically sensitized about the developments in economic activities at the micro and macro level, this can be done effectively by a chamber of commerce.
6 Women’s education and empowerment
There is a saying “educate a woman to educate a generation” Still there are some quarters among Muslims that say girls should not be educated beyond Matric.
According to the Government of India census, 2011 Female literacy among Muslim women is 62.41 percent compared to Muslim Male literacy at 51.9 percent. There is a considerable surge in female literacy among Muslim women since the beginning of the eighties (of the last century). The dawn of the 21st century has witnessed mass enrollment of Muslim girls both at the primary and higher education levels. More and more Muslim girls are pursuing professional degrees. Certain religious entities act as stumbling blocks in the way of higher education for Muslims particularly girls.
These days Muslim women shoulder responsibilities of not only the education of their children but also the finances of their families. It’s imperative on the part of Muslim NGOs to open more and more skills development centers exclusively for women and girls.
7 Soft skills
In India, every year around 85 percent of engineering and other professional graduates are rendered jobless due to their poor communication and soft skills. All the mosques should arrange for training Muslim youth in these vital skills every year during summer vacation, in fact, after the completion of every course all the students should be exposed to soft skills training by experts
8 Stress busters – the need of the hour.
People in all spheres of activities both at home and office suffer from stress and strain, which leads to chronic diseases, fatigue, and depression and sometimes creates issues in families, even students at schools too are not free of stress.
There are several stress management therapies, schools, offices, business houses, and factories should hire experts and conduct relaxation and rejuvenation centers in their respective institutions. This will make the workforce more healthy and more productive.
